Hello again! Glad to see you back here! Our theme for January was 2016 Reflections/2017 Goals, but since I already did a reflection post of sorts last month and I don’t particularly like writing down my goals (I’m not very good at sticking with things so I get this overwhelming feeling of guilt when I don’t follow through with them). Instead, I like to document my progress on things as I go. However, since I’ve yet to really do anything this year worth documenting, I’ve decided to do something else.
This month I want to talk to you about ASMR and introduce you to some ASMR videos because they are something I turn to quite often in my own life. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which means that you get a tingly or bubbly sensation over your head, maybe down your neck, across your shoulders, anywhere on your body really, in response certain sounds. The sounds that elicit ASMR are called triggers and they can be anything from the sound of hair being brushed, to nails tapping on a table or counter, to the squeaking of styrofoam being touched, to incomprehensible whispering.
Sometimes ASMR doesn’t elicit a positive response from people at all and instead will irritate them. Some people, like me use it for relaxation. I’ve had very small tingly responses a few times, but mainly I just use ASMR to fall asleep. ASMR can help with depression, insomnia, and anxiety as well.
I always find myself going to danipink89’s YouTube channel because her videos are typically the most visually appealing to me and the length of her nails never ceases to amaze me.
Here’s the link to her channel:
It’s fairly simple to find a trigger that works for you. There are tons of compilation videos on YouTube, so I’m sure there’s something out there for you. Give it a go. Here are a couple of my personal favourite specific videos for you to check out. Have fun! See you next month!
