I’ve rewritten this a few times now. Never sure just what and how much to share and how to go about it but I think the best way is to just be honest and say exactly what I think so here it goes.
Friendships built through social media are both difficult and easy. Fun and frustrating. They get messy and you have to work at them, like any relationship, but they are worth it.
When I became friends with Morgan and Alison it was quick and easy. It was like we instantly hit it off. We could talk every day for hours and not get tired of each other. Sometimes the conversations were funny and light, sometimes they were serious.
Online friendships are just like in person friendships though and you will have disagreements and arguments. I find my friendship with Alison fascinating. We are similar in that we are both quiet and reserved introverts but we have some very differing thoughts and beliefs. It’s not something that has ever affected out friendship and when some topics are brought up it’s not about who is right and who is wrong but just trying to get a better understanding on the other person and their thoughts.
Morgan and I have had some of the best conversations I’ve ever had. But we have also had some of the worst fights. I think that it was easier to pick fights with each other though because we knew no matter what we would also care for each other. It hasn’t always been easy but these girls have shown me so much love and support and have been a big part in my life. Their influences have made a big impact on my life.
Communication is something I am not good at and need to work on. Alison and I still talk a bit, Morgan and I haven’t had a real conversation in a really long time but life gets busy and we are all on our own little adventures. I will always be rooting for these girls. I want success and happiness for both of them. I am hoping that one day I will have copies of their novels or albums sitting in my home.
So even though they take work and can be messy and hard I think online friendships are important and worth it. Put yourself out there and find people with similar interests. Find people you can laugh and joke with but also have serious conversations with. You can find some pretty incredible people through social media.
